The first step is to join Strathardle Archers. If we are too far away then contact the NFAS [National Field Archery Society] www.nfas.net to find your nearest club.
Equipment
Clubs will have access to equipment suitable to learn with. Even if you know the kind of equipment you want, it would be a mistake to buy it right away since your muscles will gradually get used to the new exercise of pulling a bow. If you buy an expensive bow that you can pull straight away it will soon become too light for you. But if you buy a bow with a draw weight that you believe might suit you after a few months of practise, you will not be able to pull it now and your learning will be hampered. Also, if you get a bit competitive you may want to first look at what your fellow club members shoot with so you can measure yourself and enjoy the spark of competition.
Technical Information
Here are a number of our technical bulletins geared to traditional styles to help you along the way as you get to know your equipment.
